Girl returns home, says she had eloped

PATNA: The case of kidnapping of a girl, Pratibha Anand, lodged with the Digha police station on August 7, 2008, by her father, Amrendra Kumar Singh, resident of Jay Prakash Nagar of Digha, turned out to be false one.

Confirming this, senior SP Amit Kumar said Anand had in fact eloped with a boy, Prasunna Rai, a resident of Saidpur locality under the Kadamkuan police station, and married him at the registrar office and stayed in a rented house in S K Puri.

However, when Anand did not return home, her father informed the police that his daughter had been kidnapped.

In fact, her father had also named her fiancee Rajnish, along with others, as main accused for hatching the kidnapping of his daughter.

Police investigated the case, but without much success. After two days of her ‘kidnapping' Anand surfaced at her father's house on August 9, 2008. Police immediately interrogated her, but she kept dodging the police.

It was on Tuesday, Anand denied her earlier stories and narrated the real story to the police.

She said, "I had eloped with Prasunna on April 25, 2008, and married him at a registrar office." She also showed her marriage certificate to the police and parents. The police then concluded that it was absolutely a false case.
