Infineon chip might be causing problems with iPhone - reports

The Apple Inc.’s new iPhone, which was grabbed by iPhone fans during first couple of weeks of launch, has got into troubles due to Infineon chip used in the gadget. The agitated users are constantly asking Apple the reason behind all these errors.

According to a research report from Nomura, an Infineon chip could be responsible for the trouble being caused to the users. The users are encountering the problem of dropping of the calls suddenly and unknown internet links, which they are not aware of.

On Thursday a well known magazine posted on its website that Apple’s iPhone is suffering from faulty software on an Infineon chip. However, the company is planning to repair it through the help of a software update.

The faulty handset, when was launched in July, became an instant hit among the users and its sales went up to 1 million in just the first weekend.

The reason for such great sales was faster processing, third generation (3G) Web connections in new iPhone compared to the initial iPhone which was launched in the mid of 2007.

The consumers, soon after the purchase, had started complaining that the iPhone had inconsistent internet speed and also the phone often reverts to Edge (a slower technology), even in 3G areas.

A report dated August 12 by Richard Windsor who works as a Nomura Analyst clarified, “We believe that these issues are typical of an immature chipset and radio protocol stack where we are almost certain that Infineon is the 3G supplier.”

He further wrote and informed, “There are too many instances on iPhone blogs and Apple's own website for it to be coincidence. Furthermore, it is not just the U.S. but other countries as well.”
